Atlantic Liberal Caucus Roundtable Discussion: The Future Economy of Atlantic Canada, the Challenges and the Opportunities

OTTAWA – Charlottetown MP Shawn Murphy participated in the Atlantic Canada Roundtable Discussions: The Future Economy of Atlantic Canada, the Challenges and the Opportunities, on February 22nd in Moncton, New Brunswick. The event took place at the Delta Beauséjour Hotel in downtown Moncton.
 
On behalf of the Atlantic Liberal Caucus Mr. Murphy welcomed a full capacity crowd to participate in a series of roundtable discussion lead by business leaders and industry experts from throughout Atlantic Canada. 
 
Panellists presented their vision of Atlantic Canada, focusing on the economic future of rural and urban Atlantic Canada from both federal and Atlantic contexts. Discussions included the education and occupational skill sets required to build a robust Atlantic economy, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing rural Atlantic Canada. Panellists also presented their views on emerging Atlantic industries and the roles that educators and governments should play in ensuring these industries continue to grow.
 
“The road to prosperity in rural and urban Atlantic Canada starts here – by addressing the real priorities that Atlantic Canadians have told us to pursue,” Mr. Murphy said.
